We had to hang this large antique mirror (about 60 pounds worth!) on a plaster wall. The wall was 54″ high and the mirror is 53″! Very little room to do it. We took to measuring and drilling and sinking anchors. The finished piece is exactly 1/2″ from the ceiling and 1/2″ from the mantle, I think it works fine! Whew!
